Figments are emotional constructs born from imagination, belief, and Resonance. Most are harmless and temporary, but powerful emotions can occasionally give them unexpected permanence—or transform them into genuine supernatural anomalies.

Spirits

Not every soul reaches its intended destination.

Spirits are deceased individuals caught between states—ghosts, banished souls, emotional echoes, and other supernatural remnants that continue to linger throughout the Dakaverse. Some remain by choice, others through punishment, and a few simply refuse to move on.

Ancient Pillar Hybrids

Hybrids are exceptionally rare individuals born from combinations of normally incompatible supernatural lineages. Powerful, unpredictable, and highly sought after, many spend their lives protected by specially designated Keepers.

Deities

Across the Dakaverse, the gods and philosophical figures worshipped by mortals are very real—but they oversee individual belief systems rather than the universe itself.

Powerful within their own traditions, they serve their followers while remaining separate from the higher administration of the Ancient Pillar.

Pingswinging

Long-term Purgatoria residents have developed the terrible habit of tapping one another's CAT Tags to replay their final moments.

Officially, this practice is prohibited.

Unofficially, everyone does it.

It is considered invasive.

It is considered rude.

It is considered irresistible.

CAT TAGS

"The universe labels everything."

Every deceased soul receives a permanent Categorical Tag (CAT Tag) identifying the circumstances of its death.

The tag cannot be removed, hidden, or falsified.

More than identification, CAT Tags allow SRC to recognize unusual death patterns, detect anomalies, and automatically generate complaints requiring investigation.

Most tags simply help organize the afterlife.

Some accidentally start Dread-Bearer missions.
