Resonance is the invisible emotional infrastructure of the Dakaverse. Most of the time it quietly stabilizes the world around us, flowing beneath cities, memories, and living minds. When disturbed, however, Resonance becomes one of the universe's greatest hazards.

Some dangers affect individuals.

Others consume entire communities.

The following conditions are among the most closely monitored by the Solar Registry Commission.

Resonance Sickness

"Too much emotional radiation changes everything."

Resonance Sickness develops after prolonged exposure to unstable emotional fields, corrupted anomalies, or concentrated Resonance events. Symptoms vary depending on the individual's natural Resonance condition but often include sensory distortion, emotional instability, fatigue, and difficulty separating personal feelings from the surrounding emotional environment.

Most cases resolve with rest and proper care. Untreated exposure can lead to more severe Resonance conditions.

Common Symptoms: Fatigue • Emotional distortion • Sensory overload • Difficulty concentrating

Resonance Burnout

"Even emotional infrastructure needs time to recover."

Burnout occurs when a person's Resonance remains active under prolonged stress without adequate recovery. Unlike physical exhaustion, Burnout affects emotional perception itself, leaving individuals mentally foggy, spiritually drained, and temporarily less sensitive to Resonance.

It is especially common among Dread-Bearers after extended missions or repeated anomaly containment.

Resonance Collapse

"When emotion becomes gravity."

One of the most dangerous known Resonance events, Collapse occurs when overwhelming emotional pressure implodes instead of dispersing. The resulting distortion behaves like an emotional singularity, pulling surrounding Resonance inward and destabilizing nearby anomalies, Truth Orbitals, and even conceptual structures.

Collapse zones are immediately quarantined by SRC and frequently require Dread-Bearer intervention.

Resonance Bleed

"Not every emotion belongs to you."

Resonance Bleed occurs when emotional fields overlap and begin leaking into one another. Individuals may experience feelings, memories, or impulses that originate from nearby people or locations rather than themselves.

Bleed is rarely dangerous on its own but can become disorienting during periods of heightened emotional activity or within heavily saturated Resonance Polises.

Common Symptoms: Emotional confusion • Borrowed feelings • Misidentified memories • Identity fatigue

Bad Valves

"Pressure has to escape somewhere."

Bad Valves are unstable points where accumulated Resonance erupts into the physical world. Formed beneath cities within the Pressure Veins of the Resonance Polis, they release concentrated emotional energy capable of spawning anomalies, distorting environments, and triggering unpredictable metaphysical events.

Every Bad Valve tells the story of emotions left unresolved for too long.

When one opens, Dread-Bearers respond.

Resonance Contamination

"Some emotional wounds spread."

Contamination develops when corrupted Resonance lingers within people, places, or objects long after the original event has passed. Left untreated, these emotional residues can influence behavior, amplify existing fears, or generate localized anomalies.

Unlike Resonance Sickness, contamination spreads outward, making early containment a priority for SRC and SAD personnel.

Emotional Storms

"Weather for the soul."

When large populations experience overwhelming collective emotion, Resonance can condense into atmospheric phenomena known as Emotional Storms. These events behave like natural disasters fueled by shared emotional states rather than climate.

Fear may blanket a city in oppressive silence.

Grief may fall like endless rain.

Rage can ignite electrical disturbances and violent Resonance spikes.

Though invisible to most mortals, Resonance-sensitive individuals experience Emotional Storms as overwhelming waves of emotional pressure that can reshape both people and places.

Common Triggers: Collective trauma • Major disasters • Mass celebrations • Political unrest • Resonance Collapse

Hazard Scale

Green — Stable Resonance

Routine emotional activity.

Yellow — Elevated Resonance

Localized disturbances requiring observation.

Orange — Hazardous Resonance

Anomalies likely. Dread-Bearer response recommended.

Red — Critical Resonance

Bad Valves, Emotional Storms, or Collapse conditions in progress.

Rainbow — Mesmermania Event

Immediate containment required. Notify SRC and SAD. Avoid direct exposure.

Safety Recommendations

SRC recommends the following precautions when operating in Resonance-active environments:

• Practice emotional grounding before and after missions.

• Avoid prolonged exposure to corrupted Resonance fields.

• Report suspected Bad Valves immediately.

• Never ignore signs of Resonance Burnout or Sickness.

• Seek assistance if your Truth Orbital readings become inconsistent.
